It’s another exciting
edition of looking good with Sarah. Today we will be looking at the beauty of
the eye shadow.
Eye shadow is a cosmetic that is applied on the
eyelid just under the eyebrow; it adds compliments to the eye color and simply
draws attention to the eyes.
Eye shadow comes in different color and texture
which is usually made from powder but can also be found in pencil form.
Note: Before the eye shadow is applied
to the eyes, it is advisable to make use of an eyeshadow primer.
Eye shadow primer: This is used
to coat the eyelid prior to the application of the eye shadow so that it can be
applied in a smooth, even layer for it to stay in place on the eyelid after the
hustles of the day.
Most of the eye shadow primer comes in a tube or a small
tub with shades that blend in with most skin tones. This is because the purpose
of the primer is not to accent the eyelid with color, but to prepare them for
eyeshadow that will serve that purpose.
Note these points before
choosing an eye shadow
·
For
day time, eye shadows should match your eyes or be one shade lighter
·
Bright
colored eye shadows are better suited to evening wear.
·
Lightening
the area under the eyebrows makes the eyes look bigger and brighter for matured
women.
·
Small,
deep set, eyes should avoid dark colors on the eye socket. Use only light eye
shadows.
Basic tips on how to apply an eye shadow:
·
Choose
an eye shadow that compliments your eye color
·
Apply
your eye shadow primer
·
Choose
three complementing eyeshadow colors that are light, medium and dark intensity.
The medium color should be the base, the lightest color the highlighter and the
darkest color the contour.
·
Apply
the medium color into the main area of your eyelid that is directly over your
eye ball. Sweep it slightly to the outside edge.
·
Apply
the lightest color or highlighter underneath the eyebrow. Sweep it slightly out
as you did the first color.
·
Apply
a bit of the darkest color to the tip of the applicator, then apply a thin line
starting from the inside corner of the eye and make the line wider as you move
towards the outside of the eyelid.
·
Continue
wit the darkest color just past the crease of your eyelid and bring the tip
back to touch the outside edge of the eyelid.
·
Soften
the line of the dark contour with a Q-tip and smudge it into the lashes
slightly.
·
Blend
eye shadow by stroking the lid gently with an eye shadow blending brush. Don’t
use your finger; you could wipe off the shadow completely.
As usual, questions and comments are greatly
appreciated. Look forward to hearing from you.
Have a great week end
